We are the ski champions

Pupils from Years 8 to 13 took part in the annual ISA National Indoor Ski Championship Competition this week, participating against a strong field of skiers from schools around the country.

Mr Underwood, from our Sport Department, said: “Congratulations to our fantastic young skiers! All our boys performed brilliantly, shredding the slopes and achieving valuable points for Wetherby Senior.”

As well as Wetherby Senior coming first overall, there were a number of super individual results for our young skiers.

For the U14 boys (34 competitors), Wetherby Senior had:

• Marco A in 17th place (time of 19.89)
• Markus J in 15th place (time of 19.35)
• Josh K in 13th place (time of 18.97)

For the U16 boys (48 competitors), Wetherby Senior had:

• Sergey G in 3rd place (time of 17.33)
• Jaspar O in 42nd place (time of 23.46)
• Daniel OF in 12th place (time of 18.75)

For the U19 boys (15 competitors), Wetherby Senior had:

• Lorenzo S in 3rd place (time of 18.18)
• Jonny R in 5th place (time of 18.57)
• Alex L in 6th place (time of 18.87)
• Tommy T in 9th place (time of 19.24)

Skiing is a popular sport at Wetherby Senior and our School’s annual ski trips (to Italy for Years 7 to 9 and to Canada for Years 10-13) always fill to capacity.
