Headmaster’s Welcome

Welcome to Wetherby Senior School.

In our relatively short history, Wetherby Senior has built a vibrant, diverse and caring community with strong shared values. Our objective is simple – we want our young people to experience an outstanding, well-rounded and progressive education that prepares them to face the challenges of modern life with a strong sense of responsibility and compassion towards others.

Our dynamic and experienced teaching staff provides an environment which inspires, encourages and, above all, cares for our boys as individuals. The breadth of our academic offering is designed to help our young people grow into young adults who are resilient, adaptable, creative, and motivated to continue learning throughout their lives.

Our rigorous academic curriculum is complemented by a broad collection of co-curricular activities to help our young people to develop their passions and strengthen their courage to pursue new ones. Alongside our diverse offering of clubs (which range from botany to board games and more), music tuition is available in an array of instruments and our numerous ensembles rehearse each week. As well as regular music performance opportunities, we offer at least three drama productions a year, with our boys taking part on stage or behind-the-scenes. Sport is compulsory for all year groups, as we make use of our superb on-site equipment (which include a fully-equipped gym and weights room, and a spin studio) and state-of-the-art external facilities, like Ealing Trailfinders or nearby Regent’s Park.

Our location in the heart of London affords our young people access to a diverse and cosmopolitan community, whilst ensuring that we can easily undertake regular visits to museums, galleries, theatres, exhibitions, lectures and other places of interest, both in London and further afield.

We encourage the ambitions of all our young people with strong higher education and careers guidance. Within our Sixth Form, this includes two counsellors to support US university applications, while our Sixth Form team is available to guide our boys through the university selection and admissions process. Our recent alumni now study at some of the most prestigious universities in the UK, USA and Europe, with courses that include medicine, law, engineering, economics and more.

Our website will give you some insight into life at Wetherby Senior but I hope you will be able to attend our Open Day or one of our Visitor Mornings to meet with me, my colleagues and especially our pupils, to experience our unique atmosphere and learn more about our School.
