How to Apply – 13+ Entry

Pupils applying to join Year 9 at Wetherby Senior are required to take our entrance exam during the autumn term of Year 6, with interviews taking place in the spring term of Year 6.

13+ entry in September 2026

Applications are now open for 13+ entry to Wetherby Senior in September 2026 closed at 12 noon on Friday 13th October. If you are looking to submit a late application, please contact our Registrar.

Boys applying for 13+ entry are required to take Wetherby Senior’s bespoke entrance test during the autumn term of Year 6.  This assesses English and Mathematics, covered in the National Curriculum up to the end of Year 5, plus verbal and non-verbal reasoning. A familiarisation test is available here.

Most applicants will be able to sit the assessment in their current school between 6th and 30th November 2023. Please check with your son’s school whether they will  host our assessment, as applicants will be asked to confirm where they will be sitting assessment.

For applicants unable to sit the assessment at their current school, Wetherby Senior will run several hosted assessments during November, with our main assessment on Saturday 25th November 2023. We will offer morning and afternoon assessments on this Saturday, and applicants will be asked to select their assessment session closer to the time.

For applicants unable to attend that Saturday, Wetherby Senior will host further sessions across week commencing 20th November. All applicants will need to have sat their test by 30th November.

Interviews for selected candidates will be held in February 2024, in Marylebone.

Please note: our School’s 11+ and 13+ application processes run concurrently when boys are in Year 6. Parents must choose either our 11+ entry route or 13+ entry route at time of application. We cannot change your son’s entry route after assessment. Please use our registration form, below.

Fluency in English

To fully access our curriculum and play a full part in the life of Wetherby Senior, prospective pupils must have a good level of written and spoken English, or must demonstrate the aptitude to acquire it quickly. Normally pupils should have been educated in the English medium for at least three years before coming to our School. Tuition in English as an Additional Language (EAL) can be arranged (at additional cost) to support boys that require it.

Equal treatment

Wetherby Senior is fully committed to our legal and moral obligation to treat all applicants equally, regardless of a candidate’s race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or social background.
