Spanish cinematic success

Wetherby Senior pupils have been testing their language skills and exploring Spanish culture at the prestigious London Spanish Film Festival.

Our young Spanish speakers headed to South Kensington earlier this week, to enjoy the London premiere of No mires a los ojos (Staring at Strangers), which was also opening the film festival.

Ms Miguez, Head of Spanish at Wetherby Senior, said: “Even though the weather wasn’t looking or feeling very Spanish on Wednesday, we met at Ciné Lumière for the first session of the London Spanish Film Festival.

“Our chosen film allowed us to appreciate the superb acting of one of Spain’s most famous actors, Paco Leon, and our sixth formers enjoyed this opportunity to be immersed in the Spanish culture. Afterwards, our boys asked me if we could attend more events like this, and I am looking forward to organising more Spanish activities and excursions that take our studies beyond Marylebone!”

The London Spanish Film Festival, which is returning for its 19th edition, includes films from all corners of Spain. These new feature films, documentaries, international co-productions, shorts and wonders from the archives all celebrate the wealth of Spain’s cultural diversity.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
