Headmaster’s blog 09/06/2023

I trust that everyone enjoyed our recent half-term holiday. While I’m sure our boys will feel this first week back has passed by in a flurry of exams (with School assessments for most cohorts, plus external exams for Years 11 and 13), at least the warmer weather has meant pupils are now able to move into summer uniform.

This week’s newsletter includes some lovely stories on events that took place before half-term, with a review of our annual Live Lounge concert and feedback on visits to the nearby Wallace Collection by our Year 9 philosophers. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Benjamin, one of our current Deputy Head Boys, for his much deserved award – The Lexden Prize for Sixth Formers – from the ISA.

In addition, we have much to look forward to before the summer break, including our Lower School play on 28th and 29th June, which Mr Tibbles and his talented actors are hard at work on. As you’ll see in our news story, below, The Government Inspector is Wetherby Senior’s first production, since Covid, to include cast members from Francis Holland School, Regent’s Park – which means Theo in Year 9 will be starring alongside his sister later this month! A reminder that tickets for The Government Inspector are now on sale via ParentPay.

Finally, we recently produced some short films featuring current pupils and teachers talking about different aspects of life at Wetherby Senior. While these films will primarily help prospective families learn more about our wonderful School, I thought our current families may also enjoy watching them. All can now be viewed on our YouTube channel and I’d like to thank our boys and staff for their involvement and evident enthusiasm in this project.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
