Headmaster’s blog 02/12/22

It has been rather a quiet Friday here in Marylebone but only because the majority of our pupils have been off-site, undertaking a range of rewarding and interesting activities for Field Day. Please keep an eye on our School’s website and social media channels next week, as we report back on the different events that took.

As we edge ever nearer to the Christmas holiday, there is still plenty in our Wetherby Senior calendar and next week is already looking particularly busy. To start with, we have our Upper School Drama play on Monday and Tuesday at RADA. A final reminder that tickets are available here, so please book now to enjoy a fantastic evening at the theatre. In addition, our parents have our PTA Quiz Night on Wednesday, so please contact our PTA to get one of the few remaining spots. I think all that is left to say is, “Break a leg” to our young actors and, “Best of luck” to our quiz teams!

I’m delighted that our School is, once again, supporting West London Mission’s Christmas shoebox appeal. This very deserving charity works with some of London’s most vulnerable, helping those affected by a range of social issues. Last year, our School community donated over 100 shoeboxes, filled with items like toiletries, socks, gloves, scarves, winter hats, books, and confectionary, and I’m hopeful that we will donate the same or more this year. A reminder that shoeboxes must be delivered to Marylebone by Thursday 15th December. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Looking past Christmas and we have our School’s 2023 ski trips, although Mr Underwood is already planning our February 2024 ski schedule! More details are below but our older boys will return to Canada and our younger boys to Italy. Please contact Mr Underwood to register your son’s interest.

Finally, as you know, we normally end each Friday with an assembly, meaning it was our Trib assemblies last week. For Ravensbourne, this concluded in a slightly different manner with Greek dancing led by Ms Maroudi. As she explained to our young dancers, it was a fun way for all in Ravensbourne to join together after a busy week. You may have already seen our Instagram video (at the time of writing, it had over 750 views) but it can also be watched here. I’m sure you’ll agree that our boys look to be having a great time, although they may need a little more practice with their time keeping and footwork.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
