I trust everyone enjoyed a pleasant half-term holiday and that Monday’s return to the usual routine didn’t feel like a crashing to Earth.
Of course, for many of our sixth formers and Year 11 boys, Monday ended with thoughts beyond Earth, at our careers lecture on working in the space industry. It seems this fascinating talk was greatly enjoyed by all, and more details can be found in our news story.
Staying with stars, although in this case the star is one of the main actors in our Upper School play, we also have a short interview with current Year 12, Paul, on how rehearsals are going. Bus Stop will be at RADA on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th December, with tickets now on sale via RADA’s website here. I look forward to seeing the hard work and dedication of our young actors and Ms Twomey (as co-writer and director) come to fruition, and we will have further news about our Upper School play in the weeks ahead.
While our sixth formers continue to beaver away at their university applications, we were delighted to host representatives from a number of US universities earlier this week. All toured our School buildings and spent time with our current Year 12 cohort, providing a valuable opportunity for our sixth formers to learn more about studying in the USA. I was also pleased to hear all the fantastic feedback from these US college reps on the time they spent with our boys. The Colorado State University representative, for example, described our sixth formers as “incredibly professional and well mannered, they asked great questions, and were very eager to answer our questions. Any university would be lucky to have them.”
Today some of our sixth formers have been sitting their Oxbridge exam, so I’d like to wish those boys the best of luck and I am sure they gave a good account of themselves.
As I write this message, a number of our young people are trekking across the Chiltern Hills, which I hope is not too soggy after yesterday’s rainfall, for their Duke of Edinburgh training expedition. With other trips and excursions planned, sports fixtures underway and our co-curricular programme up and running, we certainly have plenty to keep our boys busy for the rest of this term.
