Headmaster’s blog 25/03/22

I hope you enjoy reading about trips to the theatre and trips to Stratford, or exploration of cell biology and exploration of the Chiltern Hills, to name just some of last Friday’s activities.

This week saw our current Years 11 and 13 undertake their mock exams at Hannah House. This has been a valuable opportunity for our young people to see how effective their exam preparation has been, reflecting on what they have learnt and what they can improve for their forthcoming GCSEs and A Levels. I’d like to praise our boys for their behaviour and conduct at this time, and thank staff for supporting this experience.

As we continue to nurture the ambitions of our young people, I’m delighted to read our interview with Faris, about his offer at New York University. As previously mentioned, we plan to feature many of our successful sixth formers talking about their future plans in the months ahead. As well as highlighting their hard work and commitment, this can also act as further inspiration to our younger pupils.

For our Year 12, we have an inspiring speaker visiting on Monday, for our Sixth Form Lecture with Queen’s College, London. A careers specialist, Amaka Uche will be discussing corporate career paths, work experience, and how to successful prepare applications for graduate schemes. A reminder that this talk is compulsory for Year 12 and is at 4:15pm, Monday 28th March, at Hannah House.

As we near the end of term, next week sees a number of inter-trib events providing competitive fun before the Easter break. This includes drama (with So Long Mr Longland on Monday and Thursday), plus inter-trib rugby for Years 7 and 8, and inter-trib football for Years 9 and 10. We also have our Brass Bash to enjoy on Wednesday. Break a leg or best of luck, depending on the activity, to all involved!

Staying with sport, our Summer Term options have been emailed to parents, with a completion deadline of Tuesday 29th March. Please note that, as Years 11 and 13 are on study leave not long after Easter, they continue with their current sport options. In addition, Years 7 and 8 will be based at Ealing Trailfinders next term, participating in cricket, tennis and athletics.

To end, a few practical announcements. We will all be at The Regent’s Park on Wednesday 30th March for our School photograph. This means all boys should be in School uniform. This includes Years 11, 12 and 13, who can change into their games kit during lunch or at Ealing Trailfinders. Our Spring Term ends at 12:30pm on Friday 1st April, with all pupils expected back on Wednesday 20th April.
