How to Apply

THE ENTRY PROCEDURE

Wetherby Senior School is an academically selective school. Our usual points of entry are at 11+, 13+ or 16+. Selection is based upon academic merit which is assessed through an entry examination, references from the candidate’s previous school and interview. Our selection process is designed to identify pupils who are able to benefit from our balanced and well-rounded education and to make a positive contribution towards the life of the School.

The 11+ assessments (English and Maths papers) will be held in the January of the year of entry. For 11+ entry in September 2020 the assessment date will be Monday 6th January 2020. The deadline for registration for 11+ admission 2020 is Monday 2nd December 2019.

The 13+ assessments will be held in the autumn of Year 6 through the ISEB Common Pre-Test and then interview. The deadline for submission of registration for 13+ admission 2022 is Friday 18th October 2019.

The 16+ assessment day will be held in the autumn term of Year 11. Boys will be interviewed and examined in the subjects they wish to study for A Level. The deadline for receipt of applications for 16+ admission 2020 is Friday 18th October 2019.

A registration form can be found at the bottom of this page.

We may also have occasional places at other ages. Please contact the School for details.
The key dates for the entry process for the current year are published on our website and all registered parents are informed by letter at the start of the Autumn Term. We will usually offer places to candidates from our waiting list after the closing date for acceptances.

Fluency in English

In order to fully access the curriculum and to play a full part in the life of Wetherby Senior School, prospective pupils must have a good level of written and spoken English, or demonstrate the aptitude to acquire it quickly. Normally pupils should have been educated in the English medium for at least 3 years before coming to the school; tuition in English as an Additional Language (EAL) can be arranged (at additional cost) to support boys that require it.

Equal Treatment

Wetherby Senior School is fully committed to our legal and moral obligation to treat all applicants equally, regardless of a candidate’s race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or social background.
