Music at Wetherby Senior School is taught to all boys from years 7-9 for one period per week.  It is an option subject for both GCSE and A Level from September 2016.  Music Technology (at AS or A Level) may also be an option if there is sufficient demand.

Instrumental lessons and an ever-growing selection of co-curricular activities supplement what is learnt in lessons.

teaching and learning

The Department is very well resourced using a suite of iMacs which run Logic Pro X and Sibelius. Throughout Key Stage 3 boys develop their singing, performing, improvising, composition, listening and appraising skills. As well as theoretical and historical knowledge.

Boys in Year 7 and 8 follow the highly successful Brass Academy which gives every student the chance to learn trumpet, trombone, euphonium french horn or tuba. All the boys perform in the Brass Ensemble or Lower Brass Ensemble. Many boys go on to grade exams and continue  with the instrument as they progress through the School.

Boys in Year 9 use Logic Pro X to create film underscore, soundscapes and record performances of Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
