Coffee culture

Wetherby Senior pupils have bean busy, brewing their knowledge on coffee production, coffee sales, and charitable giving.

Since last year, a group of our pupils have been working with the brilliant charity, Safi Coffee, to raise funds to educate children in Uganda. As part of this exciting initiative, our group of Year 9 pupils headed up north last week, to visit Tranby School and to explore the Lincoln and York Coffee Roasters.

Mr Thornton, Head of Charity at Wetherby Senior, explains: “Tranby School, near Hull, started Safi Coffee, so we were delighted to be given this opportunity to meet with many of the key organisers and young people from their school who help run the charity.

“In addition, we took a trip to Lincoln and York Coffee Roasters for a tour and a run-down of the business side of things. Our time away was incredibly interesting so, at last Friday’s whole school assembly, Felipe, George, Laith and Orlando spoke to everyone about our brilliant trip.”

Wetherby Senior pupils have been building up their coffee sales business over the last year, whilst supporting a very deserving cause. As well as selling Safi Coffee products at Wetherby Senior events, including our Christmas Concert and Upper School Play, Christmas gifts (from stocking fillers to deluxe hampers) can also be purchased online here. Please speak to Mr Thornton or the pupils involved in Safi Coffee for more information.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
