Charity begins at school

Wetherby Senior’s charitable activities for 2023-24 have started on a high fashion and high fundraising note, with a very successful non-uniform day.

Taking place just before half-term, our first non-uniform day of this new academic year has also become our School’s most successful non-uniform day. This event raised an incredible £1131, which will now support relief efforts following the recent disasters in Morocco and Libya.

The suggestion to fundraise for Morocco and Libya came from Saif M and Adbo A, from Year 11. Both spoke eloquently in assembly about this fundraising event, while our School’s catering team provided a special lunchtime menu to mark the day (pictured, below).

Mr Thornton, Head of Charity at Wetherby Senior, said: “At the heart of our School’s approach to charity is the belief that pupils should be empowered to lead and take the initiative. This means I was delighted when Saif and Adbo approached me with such a fantastic suggestion for our first non-uniform day of the new year. Thank you to everyone who so generously supported this very worthy cause.”

The latter half of Wetherby Senior’s Autumn Term includes a number of other charity events, such as Christmas Jumper Day and our annual Christmas shoebox appeal. More details about these will be available shortly.

Taking place throughout the academic year, Wetherby Senior’s diverse and fun range of fundraising activities ensure boys can help make a positive contribution to society, as well as develop their leadership, organisational, and teamwork skills, since most activities are pupil-led.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
