Tech and tycoons

It has been another unbelievably busy week for Wetherby Senior’s Careers Programme, with talks taking place on technology and tycoons.

Our young people first enjoyed a visit from Karolina Dimitrova, Senior Platform Manager at Uber, who talked to about careers in banking and tech, and gave boys advice on what they should be doing now in order to start working for exciting new companies like Uber.

Wetherby Senior pupils also attended a lecture by Michael Lewis, author of The Big Short. Michael was talking about his new book, Going Infinite: the Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon, which looks at Sam Bankman-Fried, founder and CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

Ms Holmes, Head of Careers at Wetherby Senior, said: “With Sam Bankman-Fried now facing fraud charges, Michael Lewis talked about why people keep investing companies like this – due to their fear of missing out.

“This was an incredibly interesting and informative talk about the life of a very hyped company in the cryptocurrency trading space.”

Wetherby Senior’s dynamic Careers Programme starts from the moment boys join our School and our programme of on-site talks from professionals runs throughout the year, with recent talks including representatives from law, medicine, banking, artificial intelligence, and data science. We also maximise our School’s central London location to attend regular debates, seminars and lectures with high profile speakers at venues across the city.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
