Bend it like Jackson

One of Wetherby Senior’s finest young footballers is now part of a top U18 team.

Jackson, currently in Year 12, recently undertook a gruelling trial, against over one hundred other players, before being selected for the ISFA U18 squad. He then took part in the team’s first game of the season, against Kent Schools, and helped his squad to a solid victory.

Mr Tucker, Head of Football at Wetherby Senior, said: “We are all so proud of Jackson and he has certainly ensured an excellent start to the season for the ISFA U18 squad.

“For his first ISFA match, Jackson was placed in centre-back and enjoyed a solid first half, before moving to central midfield after half-time. His team went on to win 3-0, with Jackson scoring a fantastic goal with a curling volley from the edge of the area.”

Having joined Wetherby Senior in Year 9, Jackson has represented our School in football fixtures against other institutions. Reflecting on this, he said: “I’ve always enjoyed playing football and Wetherby Senior’s Sport Department has been very supportive. During the summer term, for example, I take part in gym sessions which enable me to maintain my fitness levels away from the football field.”

The Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) is affiliated to the Football Association and recognised as the body responsible for the development of the game in the independent sector.
