Give a good account

Well done to one Wetherby Senior pupil, who successfully applied to undertake inspiring work experience – normally reserved for older year groups – at one of the world’s leading accounting firms.

Currently in Year 9, Jay first heard about the work experience opportunities at KPMG from our very own Ms Holmes, Wetherby Senior’s Head of Careers. He decided to apply for one, even though he was below the normal age criteria, and was delighted to be accepted onto the programme!

Jay explains: “This work experience opportunity was really fun and interesting, and all the KPMG staff were very welcoming and encouraging. We began with an introduction to the company, hearing from different staff on their roles and time at KPMG, and learning more about the work that they do.

“We were then given a business challenge case, so we had to look at information about three restaurants, examining their value and income, in order to decide which restaurant we would want to invest in.”

Jay added: “I would certainly recommend that other Wetherby Senior pupils apply for these work experience opportunities. It provided a fantastic insight into working at KPMG and I now feel that this is a field that I would be interested in working in, in the future.”

Wetherby Senior’s work experience week is currently taking place, giving our Year 11 an opportunity to explore different careers.

KPMG International Limited is a multinational professional services network and one of the big four accounting organisations.
