Headmaster’s blog 19/05/2023

While we edge ever nearer to the half-term holiday, there is still plenty to keep our boys busy. This week alone has included a superb summer recital by our young musicians, continued university support for our sixth formers and their parents, and concluded with a fantastic talent show for Year 8!

After their final day together last Friday, members of our current Year 13 have been back in Marylebone for A Level clinic week, receiving further support and exam preparation from staff. Our Year 12 have also been well supported in their own academic journey this week, with a Karl Hopwood talk on Monday regarding internet safety part of our ongoing Sixth Form lecture series) and personal statement writing workshops today, with an external expert. I’m sure Mrs Deedat will be happy if Year 12 parents could remind their sons that the first draft of their personal statement is due Monday.

As always, Wetherby Senior’s outstanding university guidance has been extended to our parents, so all are fully involved in the process and feel more than able to support their son. This means that Year 12 parents were in Marylebone on Tuesday night, for the latest in our Sixth Form’s twilight session, to learn more about applying through UCAS. For those Year 12 parents who now wish to log into Unifrog (a useful platform that is used, at Wetherby Senior, to help with university applications), please use the new log-in code: SEQUparents.

Now we have both Years 11 and 13 on study leave, so I hope boys are using their time wisely and I wish all the very best in their GCSE and A Level exams.

This time last week, we were preparing to go to the Headmaster’s Gala at The Landmark Hotel, and I’d like to again thank our PTA for their tireless work in planning such a superb event. As well as providing an opportunity to celebrate the work of the Gold Standard Charitable Trust, and raise an amazing amount of money for this charity, it was a wonderful evening that was greatly enjoyed by all.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
