Fantastic fundraising

Wetherby Senior have presented a deserving local charity with over £6,000, following our School’s successful sponsored spin event.

During last Friday’s assembly, a representative from West London Mission – which provides social work projects for some of London’s most vulnerable people – spoke to pupils about the charity, before accepting a cheque from our School’s recent sponsored spin event.

Wetherby Senior’s sponsored spin made good use of our Marylebone Lane spin studio, while raising a fantastic amount of money for West London Mission. More than a quarter of our School participated in this fun event, with each boy or teacher cycling a half hour slot as they raced to be the first Trib to travel the length of the River Thames.

Mr Thornton, Head of Charity at Wetherby Senior, said: “Our School has worked hard to build strong links with the community, and to provide meaningful and purposeful connections to charities on our doorstep. I’m delighted and proud that Wetherby Senior has managed to raise so much for West London Mission, which operates from Hinde St Church, just metres from our Marylebone Lane home.

“Fundraising activities, like our sponsored spin, not only enables our boys to raise money to assist others. It also acts as an education of the ways they can help with issues in the world.”

Alongside fundraising through our sponsored spin, Wetherby Senior has also taken part in West London Mission’s Christmas shoebox appeal for a number of years.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
