Headmaster’s blog 12/05/2023

It has been another short week here in Marylebone following the Coronation festivities last weekend. My congratulations and sympathies go to all those boys who were out in the Chilterns at the end of last week, and on Saturday, for what proved to be a rather soggy test of endurance for their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions. I am reliably informed that all boys did very well indeed in the face of some challenging weather.

Today was the final day for our Year 13 cohort, who have A Level clinics next week and then start their exams. Our Class of 23 enjoyed a short assembly together, with humorous and nostalgic reflections on their years together in Marylebone, before being served brunch in our Sixth Form Dining Room. (A reminder that our Leavers’ Drinks event, for our Class of 23, is booked for Friday 23rd June, and Ms Mendes will be in touch with further details in due course).

With Year 11 already on study leave, I would like to wish both Years 11 and 13 the best of luck in their forthcoming exams.

As our current Year 13 move closer to starting university, our ambitious programme of higher education guidance continues for our younger boys and their families. Before the summer holidays, we have a number of events planned to support Year 12 including next week’s UK University Twilight on UCAS, for Year 12 parents. This will run from 6pm-7pm on Tuesday 16th May in the Sixth Form area of our Marylebone Lane building.

Finally, tonight sees The Headmaster’s Gala at the Landmark Hotel, which promises to be a fabulous evening and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the Gold Standard Charitable Trust. For those of you who are coming, I look forward to seeing you later.
