Back in the saddle

Wetherby Senior’s second sponsored spin has become our School’s most successful single charitable event, raising over £6,000 for West London Mission.

Before the Easter holiday, pupils and staff competed to cycle the length of the River Thames in a 12-hour long competition, all from the comfort of our School’s Marylebone Lane spin studio.

Mr Thornton, Wetherby Senior’s Head of Charity, explained: “Over 100 pupils from across all year groups, took part in our School’s second sponsored spin. Each participant cycled a half hour slot, from 7am to 7pm, representing their Trib and racing to be the first Trib to cycle 346km, otherwise known as the length of the Thames.

“Well done to our winning Trib, Walbrook. Congratulations must also go to Andrew H, in Year 12, for achieving our School’s best distance in his half-hour slot, even beating our Headmaster into second place!”

Wetherby Senior’s sponsored spin raised over £6,000 for West London Mission, which provides social work projects for some of London’s most vulnerable people, helping those affected by a range of social issues (like homelessness, poverty, and trauma) to make positive changes in their lives. Our School has supported this deserving local charity for a number of years, including taking part in the Christmas shoebox appeal each December.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
