A taste of spelling success

Congratulations to Wetherby Senior pupils, Benito and Domenico, following their recent success in the MFL Spelling Bee Competition.

Taking place before the Easter holiday, our Year 7 boys performed brilliantly in the regional final of this national competition, which was held at Rokeby School in Canning Town. Participants are expected to translate the word asked of them from English into the relevant foreign language, and must also spell it correctly.

Ms Payton, from our MFL Department, accompanied both boys. She said: “Just by taking part, Benito and Domenico are now amongst the top 50 of 3,000 young people! In addition, Benito has now made it through to the national competition final, which will take place in Cambridge in July.”

The MFL Spelling Bee is a fun event and fantastic way to encourage vocabulary learning amongst school children from across the UK.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
