Egg-stra special reading

Wetherby Senior’s Librarian has created an egg-citing list of books for boys to enjoy, with a hot cross bun, over Easter.

Since our forthcoming holiday is a great time for boys to discover to a new author or genre of literature, Mr Munday has suggested a number of age-appropriate books for Years 7 to 9 to read. These texts range from history to adventure, and from dystopian fiction to horror, with authors that include household names and award-winning writers.

For Year 7, Mr Munday’s suggested books are:

  • Resist, by Tom Palmer
  • Fight Back, by AM Dassu
  • The Haunting of Tyrese Walker, by JP Rose
  • Refugee Boy, by Benjamin Zepaniah

For Year 8, Mr Munday’s suggested books are:

  • Tremendous Things, by Susin Nielsen
  • A Little Piece of Ground, by Elizabeth Laird
  • Here Lies Arthur, by Philip Reeve
  • The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne, by Jonathon Stroud

For Year 9, Mr Munday’s suggested books are:

  • Echo Boy, by Matt Haig
  • The Lighthouse, by Alex Bell
  • Salt to the Sea, by Ruta Sepetys
  • As Good As Dead, by Holly Jackson

Ms Murray, Head of English at Wetherby Senior, said: “We’d like to thank Mr Munday for putting together such interesting, diverse, and rewarding book lists for our younger pupils to enjoy over the holidays.“Mr Munday is an expert in young adult fiction, and we thoroughly recommend that Years 7 to 9 look at the books he has outlined and read at least one of these titles during the Easter break.”
