Our right honourable sixth formers

Wetherby Senior’s sixth formers have been exploring the heart of UK politics, with a fascinating visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Earlier this week, a group of boys from Year 12 enjoyed a tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords with an expert guide. As well as discovering more about the history and heritage of one of the world’s most famous buildings building, this was also a fantastic way for our young people to learn more about the work of the UK’s Parliament.

Mr Barnett, from our History and Politics Department, accompanied our sixth formers. He said: “This was a wonderful chance to put the theory that we have been studying, in our A Level Government and Politics lessons, into the practice of how politics works at Westminster.

“Our sixth formers were delighted to go on such an interesting and informative tour, and we even managed to spot a few famous faces there, most notably Jeremy Hunt (current Chancellor of the Exchequer), Lindsey Hoyle (Speaker of the House of Commons), and the MP Jacob Rees-Mogg.”

The Houses of Parliament, on the north bank of the River Thames, is just a few miles from Wetherby Senior’s Marylebone home. It remains the meeting place for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the Parliament of the UK.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
