Class of 23 – Theo

Year 13, Theo, currently has offers to read classics at a number of top universities, including UCL, Bristol and Exeter.

“I joined Wetherby Senior in Year 9 from Wetherby Prep, where I had studied Latin and taken Ancient Greek as an extra-curricular option, which helped spark my interest in classics. I love how you can see so many links between the classical and modern world and how so many aspects of our modern world would feel unexplained without classics – like entering a movie halfway through! I also enjoy how studying a language, like Latin, trains your brain and teaches you how to think.

“Wetherby Senior’s Classics Department is just brilliant. My teachers have really inspired me to keep going with Latin, taking it as an A Level option (alongside English and History) within our Sixth Form and now, hopefully, reading classics at university.

“The entire Wetherby Senior community has been very supportive of my university plans. For example, Sixth Form staff provided strong guidance on my application to Russell Group universities, while teachers within our Classics Department undertook individual sessions to help me prepare for my interviews. In addition, my friends at Wetherby Senior have provided fantastic moral support – we encourage and motivate each other with our A Level studies and when undertaking our university applications.

“To anyone thinking of joining Wetherby Senior’s Sixth Form, I would say that you will be part of a great community, where you will enjoy excellent teaching and superb support.”
