Class of 23 – Benjamin

Year 13, Benjamin, has been accepted at the world-leading University of Cambridge to read international relations.

“I joined Wetherby Senior in Year 9 and, throughout my time here, I have been so impressed by how teachers and specialist support staff have gone above and beyond to encourage and, perhaps more importantly, challenge pupils. This means I am now studying A Levels in Biology, Economics, and Government and Politics in our Sixth Form, and have set my sights on joining a world-class university.

“At Wetherby Senior, strong relationships are encouraged within your year group and across our School. Co-curricular opportunities lend themselves to this, particularly through our Trib (house) system, which is organised vertically across all years, and through which we participate in everything from drama to sports competitions to subject-specific quizzes. This constant mixing means, at Wetherby Senior, you feel happy in the company of anyone, whether they are eleven years old or eighteen.

“As one of Wetherby Senior’s Deputy Head Boy, I have responsibility for ensuring our Trib captains keep everything running smoothly. This is also a brilliant opportunity for me to build my own leadership and organisational skills, which will help in my future studies and employment.

“I am incredibly proud of how far I have come at Wetherby Senior – I’m a Deputy Head Boy, I’m a regular performer in plays, I represent our School in sports, and I lead the pupil body in voluntary work, and have now been accepted to study at one of the world’s most competitive universities.”
