Wetherby Senior’s Year 8 have pledged to be kinder, following a thought-provoking workshop last week.
Led by our School’s Wellbeing Coach, with support from form tutors, our Year 8 cohort took part in a kindness workshop on Friday afternoon.
Ms Nash, Assistant Head: Head of Lower School, explains: “Ms Leonello began by discussing the concept of kindness and how research suggests that being kind can improve one’s mood. She got our boys to think about the people they are closest to, before then rating how kind they were to these people. This highlighted how, often, we are not as kind as we should be to those close to us. For example, we may be quicker to lose our patience with a parent or a good friend.
“Following this, our boys were asked to make kindness pledges. These were written on coloured paper hands, and it was fantastic to see our Year 8 undertaking this task with thoughtful enthusiasm.”
A kindness pledge, which could be an individual or group action, helps young people take an important step towards making the world a kinder, happier place.
