It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas

Wetherby Senior’s Christmas Concert saw 120 boys perform superbly and entertain our festive crowd.

Taking place on Wednesday, a packed audience at Hannah House Hall enjoyed performances from our School’s Brass Band, Concert Band, String Ensemble, Lower School Choir, two Year 8 Choirs, Chamber Choir, and Senior and Junior Guitar Ensemble.

Mr Martin, Director of Music, said: “While our Brass Band performed Uptown Funk and our Wetherby Senior classic, Christmas Swing, other highlights included our Concert Band’s version of the Spice Girls hit Wannabe and a Christmas medley, Christmas Rock, and our Strings Ensemble’s wonderful Yuletide, Moon River.

“Our Lower School and two Year 8 choirs sang a range of Christmas carols and other popular tunes, while our Chamber Choir wowed the audience with their intricate harmonies and festive cheer as they performed two Welsh classic folk tunes. In addition, our Junior and Senior Guitar Ensembles thrilled all with their mix of Christmas songs and jazz pieces.”

As well as entertaining the audience of pupils, parents and staff on Wednesday night, many of Wetherby Senior’s young musicians will also perform on Friday, at our School’s end-of-term assembles.

Mr Martin added: “Well done to all involved in our wonderful Christmas concert and, as we reach the end of another busy term of musical activity, I’d like to thank all our music teachers who help ensure Wetherby Senior’s Music Department remains an outstanding and exciting place to make music.”
