Super swimming success

Congratulations to Wetherby Senior pupil, Marty, on setting a new record at the ISA Swimming Nationals.

Representing our School, Marty took part in two individual races – the 50m breaststroke and the 50m butterfly – last weekend. In the 50m breaststroke, our Year 8 pupil not only came first but also set a new ISA record in the Year 8 boys category, with his time of 33:89. In addition, in the 50m butterfly, Marty swam very strongly and was awarded second place.

Mr Fuller, Director of Sport at Wetherby Senior, said: “Well done Marty on this excellent performance at a national swimming competition. We are all so proud that your hard work and dedication has paid off, and resulted in this fantastic haul of medals at the London Aquatics Centre.”

As well as being part of Wetherby Senior’s Aspiring Athlete Programme, Marty currently trains six times a week outside of school. His intense training schedule involves three morning swim sessions (two on school days and one at the weekend) and three evening swim sessions (including a double session on Thursday). He has taken part in a number of competitions, including winning best male swimmer for his age category at the National Arena Junior Swimming league final in Coventry.

Bravo Marty! All at Wetherby Senior look forward to hearing more about your future swimming success.
