Inspiring ethical leaders

Through a unique partnership with an internationally-renowned executive coaching and consulting firm, Wetherby Senior’s sixth formers are being inspired to become ethical leaders.

As part of Friday’s Field Day, Year 12 heard from the founder and CEO of Magnolia Tree, Sabine Gromer, who delivered a powerful seminar on “Ethics and Values: The Morality of Leadership”. This was followed by further workshops and activities for our sixth formers.

Magnolia Tree works with executives and decision-makers, supporting leaders in developing ethical and sustainable leadership practices in their organisations. This is the first time Magnolia Tree has partnered with a school and means our sixth formers will be supported and encouraged by a world-leading consulting and coaching firm.

Ms Holmes, Head of Careers at Wetherby Senior, explains: “I am keen for Wetherby Senior’s boys to learn how to be a leader, regardless of the job title that they eventually hold. And what better way to learn than from the best? Through our School’s partnership with Magnolia Tree, we will teach this future generation of leaders what ethical and value-based leadership looks like, and guide our boys towards developing the skills and values that are essential to sustainable leadership.

“Leaders are not only found at the top of an organisation – leaders are found in all aspects of our daily lives. My grandmother had no salaried job but was an outstanding leader and an expert at inspiring people, making them feel safe and valued, and helping them reach their full potential. She had strong core values and she did not stray from them, despite external pressures, which provided a safe base for those in her care to give their best and exceed expectations.”

Ms Holmes added: “I am delighted that we are able to work Magnolia Tree and support our sixth formers in building their ethical and value-based leadership skills in order to face the global challenges of the twenty-first century.”
