Wetherby Senior’s Duke of Edinburgh Award participants have been testing their outdoor skills in the English countryside.

The other week, a group of boys from Years 10 and 12 travelled to the Chiltern Hills. Here they got to practice the techniques and skills they will need to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions in the spring.

Ms Walters, Assistant Head: Co-curricular at Wetherby Senior, explains: “Our Duke of Edinburgh participants had a go at putting up tents, cooking on camping stoves, map reading, and meal planning. There was so much enthusiasm and effort on display from all our boys, which was really great to see.

“We are now looking forward to our practice expedition in March, where pupils will be able to make good use of their new outdoor skills.”

Participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award remains popular at Wetherby Senior. This well-respected and challenging programme can be completed at three levels – Bronze, Silver or Gold – and provides an excellent opportunity for our young people to enhance their teamwork, organisation and leadership skills.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
