In the bank

Wetherby Senior’s sixth formers have been hearing from a renowned industry expert about career opportunities in banking and finance.

Anna Overton, Senior Analytical Manager at S&P Global, visited Wetherby Senior this week to talk with members of Years 12 and 13 about becoming a corporate financial analyst. She outlined the career opportunities available to our young people, and then answered questions from her engaged and interested audience.

Ms Holmes, Wetherby Senior’s Head of Careers, explained: “Anna currently manages a highly skilled team of analysts in a multinational financial organisation. As well talking about different pathways to becoming a financial analyst, and the different roles within the industry (such as client facing v non-client facing, and commercial v non-commercial), she also explained that you do not need to be a maths wizard to be a successful financial analyst!”

For sixth formers considering a career in banking and finance, this was a chance to hear more about employment opportunities in banks and other financial institutions, and a chance to understand the career options open to those who start as corporate financial analysts but want to move into other roles.

Ms Holmes added: “Thank you Anna for sharing your anecdotes, recommendations, and wisdom on how to start a successful financial career.”

Anna’s lecture forms part of our Wetherby Careers Fireside Chat series, our Sixth Form’s regular programme of lectures by invited experts.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
