A fine footballer
Year 11 pupil, Jackson, is a rising football star at Wetherby Senior, and undertaking training with an elite football academy.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing football and, since I turned 12, I have been training outside of school with Optimum Sports Academy, who specialise in helping young players fulfil their potential and make a step into professional academy football.
“I now train around five times a week with Optimum Sports Academy, and I also undertake group sessions with players from other clubs at the weekend. So that I do not fall behind with my schoolwork, I have to carefully balance completing all my homework around this busy training schedule.
“I joined Wetherby Senior in Year 9, from Wetherby Prep, and I’ve been proud to represent our School in football fixtures against other institutions. I really enjoy taking part in PE and Wetherby Senior’s Sport Department has been very supportive. During the summer term, for example, I took part in gym sessions which enabled me to maintain my fitness levels away from the football field.
“I have nothing but praise for Wetherby Senior’s Sport Department, particularly Mr Tucker who has a great personality and, like me, is a Chelsea fan!”
