Headmaster’s blog 16/09/22

As a mark of respect for Her Majesty The Queen, our School’s news channels, including our social media accounts, have been quiet this week, meaning today’s newsletter to current parents has slightly fewer stories than usual.

However, there has been plenty of activity in Marylebone this past week, alongside our usual lessons. Our co-curricular clubs have re-started, our sixth formers attended their first lecture with Queen’s College, London, auditions were underway for our Upper School production, and sports fixtures have taken place.

In addition, we bade farewell to both Years 7 and 9 on Wednesday morning, as they headed off on their welcome residentials, with Year 7 enjoying outdoor activities in East Sussex and Year 9 travelling further along the south coast to Dorset. I am delighted that both cohorts could undertake these trips which have many benefits, aside from the obvious physical health ones due to the fresh air and outdoor adventures! For our new boys, residentials are a way to build friendships and get to know peers, while improving their confidence, and having fun as they enjoy abseiling, raft building, and more. I look forward to sharing news and photographs from these trips next week.

Staying with next week, a reminder that Monday will be a bank holiday and Wetherby Senior is closed. All are expected back to Marylebone on Tuesday 20th September. We then have our US University Forum on Wednesday 21st September, which you should attend if your son is in Years 10 to 12, and considering future study in the USA. Further details are in our newsletter to parents, plus information about our Sixth Form Information Evening for all Year 11 pupils and parents on Wednesday 28th September.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
