A Christmas classic

Wetherby Senior’s Upper School Play 2023 is a familiar festive favourite from a world-famous writer.

Taking to the stage next week, our boys will be performing a stupendous showcase of A Christmas Carol, adapted from the popular work of Charles Dickens.

Ms Vickers, Head of Drama at Wetherby Senior said: “It felt right to take on the Victorian Christmas classic that is A Christmas Carol this winter. The tale has a beautiful, moral message, seen through the transformation of the protagonist, Ebenezer Scrooge, and we have been excited to explore an all-male version of the play.

“Our Wetherby Senior production is an innovative new take on friendship, kindness and forgiveness, and we can’t wait to share this with our audience next week!”

Throughout our Autumn Term, more than 25 pupils have been involved in preparing A Christmas Carol Showcase and, below, are Erik and Theo in rehearsals. As in previous years, our Upper School Play sees all pupils work alongside invited professional light, sound, set and costume designers, thus learning more about the theatre industry. In addition, one sixth former has taken on the role of Assistant Director for this year’s production.

A Christmas Carol Showcase will be at 7pm on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th December, in our Marylebone Lane Drama Studio. The last remaining tickets are available via ParentPay.
