Headmaster’s blog 15/12/2023

And so we reach the end of another busy and successful term at Wetherby Senior! As one would expect, this last week has been packed with Christmas celebrations alongside our usual lessons. We’ve seen pupils and staff enthusiastically don a variety of tops for Christmas Jumper Day, Mr Thornton tells me that we’ve again collected an impressive number of shoeboxes for West London Mission (thank you to everyone for their generous donations), our Christmas lunch and Christmas raffle were much enjoyed yesterday, and no one will forget watching our Staff Pantomime!

Our boys began their holidays at around 1pm today, following our end-of-term assembly at nearby St Marylebone Parish Church. This was a suitably festive occasion featuring seasonal readings by some of our boys, strong musical performances by our ensembles, carol singing by all, and an end-of-term review by our Head Boy. Do visit our website to read a longer reflection of all that has taken place since we returned to Marylebone in September.

One thing I do want to mention here is to thank all of you who took the time to complete the parent survey that we recently circulated. It was really heartening to hear from so many of you, and to receive such useful feedback. For those of you who requested some follow-up contact, you may have been contacted this week, or will be contacted at the beginning of next term.

As we head into the holidays, I’d like to wish everyone a peaceful, happy and relaxing break with family and friends. Do sit down with a merry mince pie, piece of panettone, slice of Stollen or whatever represents this winter season to you, and enjoy reading our latest edition of The Barometer, which came out today and is available here.

Best wishes for the holiday and for 2024, with a reminder that boys are expected back in Marylebone on Tuesday 9th December.
