Festive favourite

Wetherby Senior’s Upper School Play 2023 is set to be a stupendous showcase of one of Charles Dickens’ most famous works.

Throughout our Autumn Term, more than 25 pupils have been involved in preparing A Christmas Carol Showcase. As in previous years, our Upper School Play sees all pupils work alongside invited professional light, sound, set and costume designers, thus learning more about the theatre industry. In addition, one sixth former has taken on the role of Assistant Director for this year’s production.

Ms Vickers, Acting Head of Drama, said: “All our young actors have been working incredibly hard, and I’m so proud of their efforts. However, I’d also like to highlight the hard work and dedication of Christos, in Year 12, who has been fantastic as our Assistant Director.

“Since its first publication in 1843, A Christmas Carol has been reminding audiences about the true meaning of Christmas, and has been adapted for stage, film, opera and more. Our showcase is another example of how it is such a timeless classic and I’m delighted that our Upper School Play will help everyone get into the festive spirit with this well-loved and well-known story.”

A Christmas Carol Showcase will be at 7pm on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th December, in our Marylebone Lane Drama Studio. Tickets for our Upper School Play will shortly go on sale via ParentPay.
