Wetherby Senior’s sixth formers have been examining the heart of UK politics, with a visit to the Houses of Parliament.
Earlier this week, a group of boys from Year 12 got to explore one of the world’s most famous buildings as they toured the Houses of Parliament with an expert guide. This enabled our sixth formers to build their understanding of the building and its road to democracy, as well as see the day-to-day work undertaken there.
Ms Neilson, Wetherby Senior’s Head of our History Department, said: “This was a brilliant opportunity to put the theory that we have been studying, in our A Level Government and Politics lessons, into the practice of how politics works at Westminster.
“Our sixth formers thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Parliament, and we were lucky enough to get to sit in the public gallery of the House of Commons, so we could even listen to some of the debates.”
The Houses of Parliament, on the north bank of the River Thames, is just a few miles from Wetherby Senior’s Marylebone home. It remains the meeting place for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the Parliament of the UK.
