Capital climbing

Wetherby Senior pupils recently enjoyed a gripping experience at central London’s tallest roped climbing centre.

Accompanied by Mr Leverage, our Year 10 boys headed to the nearby Seymour Centre before half-term for a fun and challenging climbing lesson.

Mr Leverage, Assistant Head: Staff and Operations and Head of MFL, explained: “Beneath an imposing 13 metre wall, our pupils calmly changed into their climbing shoes and checked one another’s harnesses and ropes, before taking turns to explore the different range of routes up the wall.

“While it was all a bit too much for me even to contemplate just after lunch, our boys set to work at climbing the walls and then descending swiftly on their carabiners, working in tandem with a partner.”

Indoor climbing offers a safe environment to train and improve skills like strength, balance and flexibility, as well as develop cardio fitness.
