Rook and roll

Wetherby Senior’s young chess players showed off some great moves at our Trib Chess Tournament!

Taking place over four days, this inter-Trib competition saw 43 boys, from Years 7 to 10, enjoy challenging and exciting chess matches during lunchtime. As well as hoping for victory on the chessboard, our participants were competing to win valuable Trib points towards the Thames Trophy.

Mr Brennan, from our Maths Department, said: “This was a fierce competition which included outstanding performances from a number of pupils, notably Chun Lok C (Year 7), Rodrigo LV (Year 8), Tristan V (Year 9), and Mark S (Year 10).

“Congratulations to our overall winners, Ravensbourne!”

Chess remains a popular co-curricular option at Wetherby Senior. Boys interested in taking part in our School’s Chess Club should contact Mr Brennan.
