Life of theatre fans

Wetherby pupils travelled from a set in our School’s Drama Studio, to a ship in the Pacific Ocean, via a set at Wyndham’s Theatre.

Last week’s trip to the Charing Cross Road theatre saw a number of our young people enjoy the highly acclaimed theatrical adaptation of Life of Pi. Based on Yann Martel’s Booker Prize winning novel, the play received rave reviews from critics and our Wetherby Senior pupils echoed this.

Ali, in Year 11, described the production as: “Thrilling, amazing and scintillating” while Zain, also in Year 11, added: “The puppetry was so good that I almost believed that the animals were real!”

In addition, Year 10 pupil, Andreas, was full of praise for director, Max Webster, saying: “He has cleverly encapsulated the fears and worries of Pi Patel.”

Our School’s trip to see Life of Pi came a week after GCSE Drama pupils watched the powerful and critically acclaimed Best of Enemies at the Young Vic.
