Headmaster’s blog 28/01/22

Our Spring Term continues apace, and I was delighted to see some of this week’s academic endeavours and numerus extra-curricular activities reflected in today’s newsletter to all within our School community.

While I’m sure our parents will enjoy reading how our current pupils are busy with public speaking, A Level Plus study, cricket and more, our future pupils have also been busy, with their respective 11+ and 13+ admissions process. We have received an incredibly large number of very strong applications to join Wetherby Senior in September 2022 or in September 2024. For our 11+ entry point, following examinations last term and interviews this term, we are now about to make offers to our successful applicants. For our 13+ entry point, interviews take place before the half-term holiday, with offers sent out after that break.

As our School continues to grow in both reputational standing, and popularity, the application process becomes more competitive. As the Head, this is great to see – it is an endorsement on the part of  our parents, and prospective future parents, that you are keen for your sons to be a part of this great school. As I said, we have received a fantastic number of excellent applications, so I look forward to welcoming these new cohorts to Wetherby Senior School in due course.

In our relatively short history, all at Wetherby Senior have worked hard to create a vibrant, diverse and caring community where our young people can thrive. With this sense of tolerance and acceptance at the front of my mind, our assembly today reflected on International Holocaust Day. In three separate assemblies, members of our Year 10 spoke with gravity and consideration about Jewish resistance during the Second World War, providing a powerful moment for reflection and thought at the end of our busy week.
