Wetherby Senior’s Geography Scholars attended a fascinating and topical lecture at the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) this week.
Looking at how mass migration will shape the world, our young people heard from Parag Khanna, an Indian American specialist in geopolitics and globalisation. As well as being a leading global strategy advisor and best-selling author, he is the founder and managing partner of FutureMap, a data and scenario based strategic advisory firm.
Ms Maroudi, who accompanied our Geography Scholars said: “This was a wonderful lecture and a very successful evening. Year 11 pupil, Paul, was even ready to ask a question but, sadly, we ran out of time, so he took it upon himself to approach the speaker at the end. We all look forward to our next RGS lecture in a few weeks.”
Wetherby’s Geography Scholars (boys in Years 11 to 13 who have shown a particularly strong aptitude and keen interest in the subject) aim to attend an RGS lecture each month, helping them extend their knowledge and understanding beyond GCSE and A Level study.
Founded in 1830 to advance geographical sciences, the Royal Geographical Society is the UK’s learned society and professional body for geography. It has around 16,000 members, with its work reaching the public through publications, research groups and lectures.
