A good innings

Staff at Wetherby Senior have been bowled over by the performance of our Year 7 and 8 pupils at Lord’s Indoor Cricket Centre.

This term has seen our School’s youngest pupils take part in several training sessions at the cricket centre in nearby St John’s Wood. Making good use of the indoor nets and equipment available at this world-famous venue, our pupils have been enjoying learning some of the basics of the game each week.

Mr Thornton, who has been accompanying our young people, said: “It has been amazing to train the boys and see them developing their skills surrounded by such cricketing history. They have represented our School positively, while taking advice from myself and the coaching staff with ambition and endeavour.”

Although sport remains a compulsory activity for all year groups at Wetherby Senior, these pupils have been taking part in cricket training at Lord’s as part of our diverse co-curricular programme and alongside their usual PE lessons.
