Wild about swimming

One Wetherby Senior pupil swam onto the medals podium at the Oceanman Open Water swim in Italy.

Charles, currently in Year 9, started swimming at a young age, following encouragement from the strong swimmers in his family, like his father and his uncle. He now trains twice a week with the successful Camden Swiss Cottage swimming club.

Charles explains: “I recently took part in the Oceanman Open Water swim event, at Italy’s Lake Orta. I had to swim 5.5km in open water, racing against other swimmers in my age category. The water was pretty cold when I first got in but it was great to take part in this competition and I was very pleased to come third.

“I am hoping to take part in further open water swimming races in the future, possibly in Palermo and in Ibiza.”

Congratulations to Charles on his swimming success!
