We’ll always have Paris

No one covered their Mickey Mouse ears when Wetherby Senior’s talented Concert Band took to the stage at Disneyland Paris last weekend.

Our young musicians, accompanied by Mr Martin and other Music Department teachers, returned from France on Sunday. During their four day visit to the French capital, they performed at both Disneyland Paris and Luxembourg Gardens, impressing audiences with their eclectic range of pieces, including the Guns N’ Roses classic, Sweet Child O’ Mine, and Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.

Henrik, in Year 8, plays the trombone in Wetherby Senior’s Concert Band. He said: “Last year I went on our Music Department trip to Jersey, which was brilliant. However, this time in Paris was even better – I felt that our musical performances were must stronger.

“To any younger pupils or new boys joining Wetherby Senior – I would one hundred per cent recommend that you join our Concert Band, so you can come on our next trip! It is an amazing experience!”

At Wetherby Senior, all in Year 7 are taught to play a brass or string instrument, and our Music Department also offers tuition in a wide range of instruments. Around 200 Wetherby Senior pupils enjoy individual music lessons each week.
