Hola Year 9

Members of Wetherby Senior’s Year 9 have been advancing their language skills at an official Spanish language and cultural centre.

As part of Wednesday’s Field Day, our boys visited the Instituto Cervantes in London, where they took part in an interactive cultural lesson about environmental issues, which will be one of the topics they study for their IGCSE Spanish.

Ms Miguez, Head of Spanish at Wetherby Senior, explained: “The lesson at Instituto Cervantes was with two very experienced Spanish teachers, who ensured our boys worked on all different skills. Both teachers were very impressed with the grammar and comprehension skills of our young people. I was also very impressed with how well all our boys participated in this lesson, representing themselves and our School brilliantly.

“After lunch in the gardens of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, our pupils watched the Spanish movie, Campeones. From all their laughing, I’m sure they enjoyed it!”

The Instituto Cervantes was created in 1991 to promote the Spanish language and culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The Head Office is in Madrid and it now has over 90 centres across four continents.
