Tudor tourists

Wetherby Senior pupils have been learning more about one of the UK’s most famous royal palaces.

This week, our Year 8 cohort enjoyed a trip to Hampton Court Palace. This provided an exciting opportunity for our boys to further their recent classroom studies on both the Tudors and Stuarts, exploring the palace that became Henry VIII’s centre for entertaining while on the throne.

Ms Nielson, Head of History and Politics at Wetherby Senior, said: “Our boys loved hearing from our expert tour guide, who was dressed as Anne Boleyn, and finding out more about a location where so many key religious and political decisions were made. Our pupils also got to visit the Tudor Kitchens, and enjoy some time in Hampton Court’s famous maze!”

Manu, in Year 8, added: “It was fantastic to hear more how the Tudors lived, and to see how Hampton Court has changed in the years since Henry VIII!”

A Grade I listed royal palace, Hampton Court was used as a home by monarchs from Henry VIII up until George II, and is now a major tourist attraction.
