Rising stars

Wetherby Senior sixth formers blasted off Friday morning by taking part in fascinating workshop on astronomy.

Run by researchers from leading Russell Group institution, UCL, the event began with a discussion on science. Our boys then got a chance to enhance their programming skills and knowledge, before reflecting as a group on the activities they had undertaken.

Mr Brennan, from Wetherby Senior’s Maths Department, said: “This exciting workshop helped to build knowledge and understanding in the field of astronomy amongst our sixth formers, whilst further developing many useful transferable skills, like problem solving and programming.

“Our sixth formers greatly enjoyed taking part in such an innovative workshop, and we are very grateful to the UCL research staff for visiting us in Marylebone and working with our boys.”

UCL’s world-leading Department of Space and Climate Physics is undertaking research on the physical processes in the solar system and the wider universe, as well as developing new technologies for the next generation of space missions.
