World affairs at Wycombe Abbey

Wetherby Senior’s Year 12 Model United Nations team were suited, booted, and ready for public speaking success at last weekend’s conference.

Heading to Wycombe Abbey School, our sixth formers took part in a number of fascinating debates, as well as enjoying a Highland Ball and black-tie dinner on Friday night.

Mrs Deedat, Head of our Sixth Form, accompanied our boys and said: “All our sixth formers did a brilliant job and Ed – who was taking part in his first Model UN event – was even awarded ‘highly commended delegate’ for France. It was a great conference and a great experience for our young people.”

Model UN is an educational simulation in which young people learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the UN, while building valuable skills like research, public speaking, debating, and writing. At a Model UN conference, participants work as the representative of a country, organisation, or person to solve a problem with other delegates from around the world.
