From ambassador to scholar

Ambassadors from the Royal Geographical Society have been speaking to Wetherby Senior’s Geography Scholars about studying geography at university.

Last week, three undergraduates, who are all reading geography at their respective universities, visited Marylebone to talk to our Geography Scholars about their experience, with discussion about the modules and fieldwork they have undertaken at university, and the skills they have developed through their studies.

Ms Maroudi, from our Geography Department, explained: “As well as studying geography at university, these undergraduates are ambassadors for the Royal Geographical Society, which supports geography and geographers across the world, so offered a fascinating insight to our pupils.

“Following this discussion of reading geography at university, our boys then took part in fun activities which got them thinking about future careers and the multidisciplinary nature of geography. It truly is a subject that can lead to anything, from environmental law to oceanography, or from urban planning to climate change analysis, so there was plenty to think about! We’re very grateful to the undergraduates for taking the time to visit, and all our pupils enjoyed the talk immensely.”

Wetherby Senior’s Geography Scholars are those in Years 11 to 13 who have shown a particularly strong aptitude and keen interest in the subject.
