A team of chess players from Wetherby Senior have taken part in their first national under-19 chess competition.
Our Wetherby Senior team, with included boys from Years 9 to 12, competed in the first round of the National Schools Chess Championship last Friday. They played matches against two very strong teams, comprised entirely of sixth formers, from Kings Maths School in Lambeth.
Mr Brennan, from our School’s Maths Department, accompanied our young chess players. He said: “Our boys had fun and put up a good fight against very challenging opponents. I’m delighted with their performance and I am pleased to say that they remain keen to compete again.”
